Foodie Spots in Oracle Park

Two friends enjoying burgers and beer at a sports bar

Home of the Giants, Oracle Park is well-known for its exceptional stadium delights (like the chowder bread bowl). Sometimes, however, you just want a nice dinner before or after the game. There are dozens of fantastic spots in and around the south San Francisco apartments, but these ten are the absolute best.

1. Red’s Java House

This is a must-stop location for an afternoon game. The small eatery serves up game classics like cheeseburgers, hot dogs, soda, and even beer. You can enjoy your meal on the patio right next to the water, but the real appeal here is the timelessness of Red’s Java House.

This is as close as you can get to a 1960’s experience. Reminiscent of a scene out of The Sandlot, you’ll feel as if you’ve stepped back in time to when Orlando Cepeda still played for the team. The food is delicious, too. Combine an excellent meal with exceptional atmosphere, and what more could you want on game day?

2. Garaje

There are two main reasons to stop at Garaje. The first is exquisite Mexican cuisine. The second is a craft beer list that won’t break the bank like those Oracle Park light beers. Given its close proximity to the station, the employees here know how to keep the line moving so you won’t miss a second of the action.

Fans of Garaje recommend the zapatos, which is a grilled burrito stuffed to your liking. The seared ahi tacos and beer-battered fried fish sandwich are also worth a try. Make sure to ask which beers are available, as the selection constantly changes.

3. 21st Amendment Brewery & Restaurant

Much like Garaje, 21st Amendment is an excellent pre-game choice. Their drink selection is vast, allowing you to save money on your buzz, and the food is delicious. Their burgers are a popular choice, but many fans enjoy splitting the tacos before digging into garlic fries at the park.

You can choose to sit at a table or at the bar here, all of which feature beautiful wooden décor with modern appeal. This is also a top-rated spot for works in SoMa looking for an after-hours bar.

4. Little Skillet

Little Skillet is the go-to place for fans who refuse to leave their seats during the game. Why? This restaurant serves up Southern-style comfort food from chicken and waffles to a catfish po’boy. The portion sizes and ingredients are hearty, so be prepared for a full stomach.

Whether you sit at a table or at the bar, there’s plenty of drink choices available at far cheaper prices than Oracle Park. Regardless of what you order, you’re going to come back again and again after you experience the flavors Little Skillet has in store.

5. Black Hammer Brewing

Black Hammer is another go-to spot for baseball enthusiast, but only after the Giants played so terribly that you would rather forget the game ever happened. If a unique array of ales and lagers isn’t enough to drown your sorrows, the walls are covered with out-of-this-world artwork that will make you forget there was even a game to begin with.

On top of the atmosphere and drink selection, there’s a lengthy menu to enjoy. Plus, there are plenty of kid-friendly options for fans under 21. This is also a top-rated spot for day drinking with their 12-2 p.m. happy hour specials and dog-friendly seats.

6. Atwater Tavern

Giants fans come here before games for the flatbread pizza, but the incredible view of the bay makes this an anytime stop. Their patio even looks directly towards the stadium from one angle, helping you get pumped up for the game.

The bar is filled to the brim with spirits, wine, and beer. As you drink on the cheap compared to Oracle Park, make sure to explore their menu for some pre-game favorites. The patio atmosphere is an excellent way to kickstart your game day or unwind after work.

7. Hi Dive

With reasonably priced alcohol selections, Hi Dive helps you pre-game before the first pitch. There’s food here as well, which you might enjoy if you like bar classics. The Bloody Mary is highly recommended for one simple reason; it’s the strongest of its kind in the San Francisco area

The real benefit of Hi Dive is its location. After loosening up with some drinks, you can walk down the Embarcadero for some fresh bay air as you make your way to Oracle Park’s main gate.

8. The Lord George

Lord George harkens back to an earlier time, namely the roaring ‘20s. Its elegant atmosphere will make you feel as though you’re about to watch a ball game where the umpire wears a suit (they did at one time, in case you didn’t know).

Pair their immense selection of spirits with a few dozen oysters and you’ll be ready for whatever the game may bring. From 4-6 p.m. on weekdays, those oysters happen to be on a $1 special. What could be better than your favorite cocktail, seafood, and the Giants?

9. Marlowe

Modern and semi-industrial, Marlowe is a classy joint that doesn’t carry an air of sophistication with it. This intimate space is perfect for hanging out with a date before the game, but it isn’t so intimate that friends begin to feel uncomfortable.

Pick up one of their signature cocktails then order a decadent burger at a surprisingly non-decadent price. You won’t regret the decision, and your date will certainly enjoy the atmosphere.

10. Spark Social SF

If you’re strapped for time, avoid Spark Social like the plague. If it’s a beautiful day and you don’t care what time you arrive at your seats, then you might as well wait the hour outside of this food truck park. The meals are delicious, hence the wait, and you’re not far from Oracle.

The best way to go about this is with a group of friends. Each of you can head to a different line, then combine the efforts of your wait times into a tasting frenzy to make the most of your visit.
